SIGHTLY DOCUMENTARIES FROM THE SPECIAL PROGRAM – review of Tamás Kisss beszámolója

Filmtekercs.hu

However the 2013 Mediawave festival pointed out mostly films with thematic of women and war subjects, now we would like to draw your attention to two documentaries that are not or just partially concerned by the central questions of this festival. The Polish „3 days freedom” seizes the first dawdling steps of a prisoner getting a short leave to go out, until the French „Love Market” scouts a custom of an Indo-Chinese ethnicity, the hmongs.

Lukasz Borowski: „3 days freedom” (2011)
Though the film „3 days freedom” is only the first production of the young Polish director, Lukasz Borowski, he worked up the story of the prisoner leaving the prison temporarily with such a documentary that can be characterized with a surprisingly considered construction. The cutting technique adjusted to the leading actor’s emotional condition endowed the 27-minute-creation with dinamics confuting other films of this genre.

Philippe Rostan: Love Market (2012)
There is a holy book among the hmongs that hobbles marriages within the ethnicity: the lovers can be only united, if the „writing” itself allows it according to certain date arrays of the book. Therefore it happens that also such kind of marriages are bound where the couple is not having any affection for each other. In spite of that, the hmongs do not have the feeling that this custom would hog-tie them, scilicet there is a „backstairs” allowed for affection and pash. Once a year, on the so called love market everyone has the chance to board among the arms of his or her true love, or just to have a light flirt, openly hunting for an emotional bracing for being able to turn back filled up to everyday life.
