Open your eyes, open your ears, and open your heart. Because hear comes the story of the common project of some of the most talented romanian dj-s and a bunch of exceptionally gifted gypsies playing ethno-electro.

A Vienna-based group formed in 2004, Fatima Spar and The Freedom Fries is a Euro-Asian indie jazz band with a Austrian-Turkish singer that integrates swing and musical styles from the Balkans.
The band derives its name from the euphemism for French Fries used in the U.S. after the French governmentʼs refusal to support the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The lyrics, which find emotion in Fatima Spar’s distinctive voice, are mostly in English and Turkish. The music is a brilliant amalgam of sounds and is falling somewhere between 1930’s and today’s music.

As it happend in the past 10 years, Mediawave Festival continues the tradition and will present itself in several Czech cities: on the 17th of May in KROMĚŘÍŽ and on the 18th of May close to Prague in PARDUBICE city. In these cities there will be a bigger Hungarian festival and MEDIAWAVE also had the chance to participate. You can read the programs if you click on the name of the cities.

But for the MEDIAWAVE Virág means a little more. In an approaching storm, an old friend with his shy daughter popped in the MEDIAWAVE Summer Film Camp. It happened in 2004. Then she returned many times. And also more an more movies were born and the talent started to shine through these works. Her last work was produced in the camp of the MEDIAWAVE PASSPORT CONTROL Workshop which took place in East-Turkey. At that time she had been studying at the Theater and Film Art University. Between 2007-2010 she participated in the selection committee of the MEDIAWAVE Festival. In 2010, she and her fellow partners gave help in scriptwriting (Fiction Science Lab) to young artists in the MEDIAWAVE Film Forum. She led the scriptwriter workshop in the Passport Control Film Camp’2010. This year the audience can watch her movie Something Blue in the short film section of the competition program of the festival.
 

You can still enter for free your fiction, animation or experimental film that is no longer than 30 minutes and was made after 1. January 2008. Beside the previous technical updates the biggest change is that you can not only send the registration form on-line but you can also upload your film for the pre-jury to review. Those whom movies make it to the final we require a screening copy as well.
